LINKS
PAPER BAG: RELATED SITES:
- Paper
Bag at the New Gibralter Encyclopedia of Progressive
Rock: this is a wonderful undertaking, which
until recently was only linked from www.gregsegal.com as a
personal favorite; but on a return visit, I discovered an entry
for PB there, so it belongs here now too. This link will take you
directly to that page, but I highly recommend exploring the rest
of the site and adding it to favorites, it seems to just keep
growing. If you like progressive music, this covers the full
range.
- Paper
Bag at Yahoo
: Another very pleasant
surprise: someone over there likes us, or is just very thorough.
All 4 albums are listed, and they have sound clips from "Music To
Trash"- all 25 songs!- in WMA, RA and Liquid Audio formats. And
get this: they have a bulletin board posted for "Paper
Bag Community", for
fans to have a forum. This was all news to me, I didn't even know
it existed until I went ego surfing at Yahoo and found it. So you
people out there- participate! Post something! Get that board
hopping!
- Paper
Bag in
the All Music
Guide: All four
albums are listed here, complete with surveys for each one and the
band as a whole- how to rate them, what they sound like, etc. Fans
ought to go here and offer their opinions!
- Paper
Bag at CD Spider.com: includes lists of some places where you can find
our albums over the internet. Beware the bigger names listed,
however; most are just on there for the sake of it and actually
were not carrying our stuff. The smaller dealears in used and rare
vinyl were the best ones to hit, and most were very reasonable.
Bag Alumni pages:
- Greg
Segal: includes
information about solo projects, work with various bands, artwork,
writing, etc.
- George
Radai : info about all George's work with various bands,
writings, lots of tech info, and a motherload of extremely useful
links.
- Tom Shannon
Memorial: beautiful
site commemorating the life and work of a beautiful person. We
miss him.
- Richard
Derrick: home page
for original Paper Bag bassist and namer of the band. Richard is a
multi-instrumentalist with a long track record of progressive and
experimental music. He now runs a label!
Bag-related bands:
- Ritual: George Radai has been heavily involved
with this band for a few years. They are a darker variety of rock.
Bag alumni M. Segal and Ken Rosser have also been involved in this
project on a fairly consistent basis over the last year or two.
- Freehead: M. Segal was in this band for a few
years along with Richie Hass and Jim Smith. The site offers an
overview of the band and RA sound clips from songs off their CD,
"First Head".
- The
Strange MFs:
Another M. Segal project which also featured bassist and future
Bag man Tom Shannon and Enoch Hain from the Dickies. They played
very hard and experimental fusion often reminiscent of the
Mahavishnu Orchestra. But hear for yourself! This link goes to an
MP3 site posted by Tom Shannon, featuring studio work by the
band.
- Death
and Taxes: home
page for Tom Shannon's superb project. Death and Taxes might best
be described as very progressive metal. Listed here are reviews,
gig info and CD purchase information, as well as band history and
photos.
